One of FIDO'S primary personal and professional goals is to help dog’s live happy lives with their human guardians. By teaching people how to communicate with their pets in a dog-friendly way, so that both human and dog can truly understand what is being asked of them, we hope to do our part in making the dog and human worlds, a better place.

At FIDO we teach only Positive Reinforcement Training (PRT) / Clicker Training which we believe is the most rewarding and compassionate way to train a dog. This method helps the dog and the owner to communicate better, while having fun at the same time.

We offer: Puppy1, Puppy2, Basic One, Basic Two, Intermediate, Advanced Field Trips, Mini Courses in Loose Leash Walking,Tricks and may more fun classes. We are also certified by the AKC to do the Canine Good Citizen Program. We offer Private in home training and in office training.

We also have our Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Service, Happy Dog Walking.

How did your business come to be?

I started a Pet Sitting Service, Happy Dog Walking in 1997, which I still have today. My dog walking clients started asking me about how to train their dogs. I started to read as many books on dog training as I could and started to help my clients with their dogs. I then thought that if I was going to help people with their dogs I should be better educated and decided to go back to school. I received my first certification in 2006 from the Animal Behavior College, and in 2011 passed my Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers test and received myCPDT-KA. I opened Fido Personal Dog in Training in Ferndale in 2009.

What's your most popular product or service?

Probably that we do Positive Reinforcement, Reward Based Training and Clicker Training.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

That we have small classes (4 -6 dogs) and two trainers in every class. We want everyone to feel comfortable and to receive lots of personal attention.

When was the business founded?

November, 2006

Why did you choose the area you did?

I love Ferndale. I lived close and thought that the small town feel was the right place for me. There is a large pet loving community as well.
