Ferndale Credit Union Employees to Walk for Warmth

The 23rd annual Walk for Warmth will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23.

Employees at Ferndale-based Credit Union ONE are gearing up for the 23rd Annual Walk for Warmth, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills.

Walkers are collecting pledges, and Credit Union ONE will donate to the cause on behalf of each employee that walks.

The Walk For Warmth is an annual event that raises funds and promotes awareness of the emergency needs of low-income people. All funds raised benefit those who face heat-related emergencies during Michigan’s harsh winters.

“This is an annual event that Credit Union ONE and its employees are proud to be part of," said John Kozich, executive director of community relations for Credit Union ONE. "It is a good opportunity to help those in our local communities get much needed support."

The venue offers walkers entertainment as well as shopping discounts from various outlet stores throughout the mall.

In 2012, more than 405 families and 1,100 individuals were assisted by the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) with funds from Walk for Warmth. 100 percent of all proceeds go back into the community.
