Yes, Gaping Neck Wounds Can Be Funny!

Go Comedy! Improve Theater wants to get you hilariously scared with its Halloween show "Stage Fright".

Leave it to Ferndale's resident comedians to make you laugh at the sight of zombies and blood.

Given how hilarious these subjects can be, it's surprising that has never put on a special Halloween show since it opened in 2009.

But have no fear this year. Every Thursday in October Go Comedy! has a special treat for those looking for a bit of Halloween hilarity with its original play "Stage Fright".

The shows are Oct. 6, 13, 20, and 27 at 10 p.m. On October 28 and 29 (Friday and Saturday) there will be special midnight showings if you dare.

Show creators Pete Jacokes and Jen Hansen talked a little bit about the production, but didn't want to give away all its secrets.

With a cast of nine, "Stage Fright" follows a group of community theater actors who are trying their best to put on an original Dracula play. There's just one hitch--they're trying to do it during a zombie apocalypse.

"It's a very ridiculous show in the best way ridiculous can be explained," said Jacokes, the stage manager at Go Comedy! "We've had the script for about two months, and I still can't stop laughing at it."

Jacokes revealed there would be lots of blood accompanied by lots of ridiculousness, lots of physical comedy, and lots of special effects. He wanted to reassure the audience that the blood will stay on stage.

Hansen is the director of "Stage Fright," and her past experience directing special effects for haunted houses has proven to come in very handy for the production. Cast members will sport frilly, feminine, Victorian-era costumes, as well as some other graphic bodily accoutrements.

"I like being able to make flowery hats, as well as gaping neck wounds!" Hansen said.
