Kids Eat Free Wednesdays at Rosie O'Grady's in Ferndale

The offer is good between 5:30 and 7 p.m. for children younger than 12 with the purchase of a $9.99 entree – plus, they might even meet a superhero!

Spider-Man recently stopped by Rosie O'Grady's in Ferndale and it wasn't to fight crime.

Instead, the spandex-clad superhero made balloon animals and provided entertainment for families who came in to enjoy the restaurant's Wednesday evening activities and free meals for kids.

"This facility has more of family atmosphere," said Barry Kagle, who owns Roseville-based Abracadabra Party Entertainment and performed as Spider-Man. "It's usually pretty busy."

The superhero's appearance was just part of the fun during the weekly Wednesday festivities, which last from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and include free meals for kids younger than 12 with the purchase of a $9.99 entree. Other highlights have included crafting projects, visits from other characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, and a "dessert mountain," aka buffet, the last Wednesday of each month.

Young patrons also may take a tome from the restaurant's free Book Exchange and bring a new one to contribute next time they visit.

Harper Jackson of Detroit, who was at Rosie O'Grady's with his family May 22, said Spider-Man was just what he expected.

"He's really cool," his sister Brooklyn, added.
