Parking Meters Transformed Into Artwork for ARTWN Party

The fundraiser for public art in downtown Ferndale will be held Friday, June 21, at The Rust Belt Market and include bidding on the meters and the chance to win 1 year of free parking.

Check out old parking meters that have been transformed into artwork Friday, June 21, at The Rust Belt Market during the ARTWN fundraiser for public art in Ferndale.

The meters will be sold via live auction during the second annual event, which also will include a silent auction, food, drinks, music and the chance to check out The Rust Belt Market's revamped event space.

ARTWN is a temporary, 10-piece outdoor sculpture exhibit throughout Ferndale sponsored by MotorCity Casino Hotel.

"(The event) will, again, be a celebration of ARTWN – the Exhibit and focus on the Ferndale (Downtown Development Authority's) efforts to raise money to add to its permanent public art collection with the purchase of two sculptures," the DDA's website says. "Those who purchase tickets will have a chance to be agents of change by voting for their favorite sculpture at the event. Each ticket includes a chance to win 1 year of free parking in downtown Ferndale."
