Ferndale Library Staff Recommends: Eve's Picks

A series featuring personal picks, insightful titles and reading recommendations from various staff members at the Ferndale Public Library. In this article, read about Circulation Specialist Eve Foley's top five recommendations.

Every other week, Ferndale Patch will feature the recommendations of various staff members at the . This week, the library's Eve Foley gives her top five picks. 

Eve Foley has been with the Ferndale Public Library through two moves, one flood and the library's astounding growth in size, circulation and as a center of the community.

Foley has served the community as a Circulation Specialist for nearly five years; she checks out your books, movies and music, processes the DVDs before they hit the shelves, and is often the first smiling face you see when you enter the library. She's an 18-year resident of Ferndale, where she lives with her husband, two children, two cats and one dog.

Eve's Top Five Library Picks

1. A Good Year: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (CD SOUNDTRACK GOOD YEAR) – "Perfect listening for a sunny Sunday morning while preparing brunch," Foley suggests.

2. A Good Year (DVD DRAMA) – "An investment broker inherits his uncle's chateau and vineyard in Provence," Foley explained. "His intentions of a quick sale are thwarted as he slowly falls under the spell of the south of France. To say I am in love with these two seems so trite, yet..."

3. Chocolat (Joanne Harris, FIC HARRIS) – "An exotic stranger opens up a chocolate shop in an old French village that is rather set in its' ways, until their senses and themselves begin to awaken.  This novel delivered me to the perfect place I needed to be at the time," she said.

4. Michigan: A Photographic Portfolio Featuring the Photography of David Muench (977.4 M) – "Stunning photography captures the uniqueness and quiet beauty of our Michigan," Foley said. "Glancing through this, a feeling of serenity and peace washes over me.  The photo of 'The Lake in the Clouds' was the determining factor for our vacation this summer."

5. Showroom of Compassion (Cake, CD CAKE) – "There is never a 'bad' time to listen to this CD.  The lead vocals and the entire band imperceptibly invite you in and embrace you," said Foley.
