Celebrate Yellow Door's One Year Birthday!

Yellow Door Art Market will be celebrating their first year of business on Saturday, October 22 from 10am - 6pm and you're invited! They will be offering 15% off the majority of their handmade wares, serving up Michigan made treats, and giving away "I heart the mitten" magnets with your purchase over 30 dollars.

When art market owners Steve and April McCrumb dreamed up the idea of opening a place where local artists could create their own permanent ‘mini-galleries’, they didn’t anticipate such a grand reception from the community. “We’ve been beyond thrilled with the success of Yellow Door and the best part is 85% of all sales goes right back to the artist” states McCrumb. That fact paired with the diverse collection of goods and price ranges is why Yellow Door customers continue to support this creative community. “We’ve doubled our projected sales,” mentions McCrumb. “There’s no doubt we definitely filled a retail niche that allows people to shop local all year long.”

Participating artists agree.  Award winning tile artist, Gretchen Kramp just signed on for another year of showcasing and selling her work at the market. “Yellow Door is providing a venue in which artists have a bit more creative control over the presentation and selection of work exhibited than in the more traditional gallery or shop settings. Because of this sense of proprietorship, there's an energy and excitement that carries into the displays and a greater sense of community among the artists as well,” says Kramp.

“As long as we can continue to introduce talented artists to people who love and appreciate hip handmade wares,” says McCrumb, “our yellow doors will remain open for many years to come.”
