What's Open, Closed for Memorial Day in Ferndale

From the post office to government offices, here's your guide to holiday hours and waste collection.

Memorial Day, which falls on Monday, May 27, is a federal holiday to honor the women and men who have given their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. As such, many banks, offices, restaurants and stores will be closed or have shortened hours.

Here's a quick look at what will be open and closed in Ferndale. Please leave a comment if you have something to add!

City offices

  • City offices: Ferndale City Hall will be closed for the holiday Monday.
  • Schools: Ferndale Public Schools and district offices will be closed  Monday.
  • Post office: The U.S. Post Office will not be open Memorial Day, nor will there be any mail delivery or pickup.
  • Trash collection: Trash collection will be delayed by one day due to Memorial Day. Read more on refuse collection in Ferndale here.
  • Emergency: Call 911 for police or fire emergencies. For any non-emergency, call the Police Department at 248-541-3650 or the Fire Department at 248-546-2510.

Around town

  • The Ferndale Public Library will be closed Monday.
  • The Kulick Community Center will be closed Monday.
  • Affirmations will be closed Monday.
