The Ferndale Community Foundation board member and City Councilman Dan Martin each took a pie in the face, from City Councilwoman Melanie Piana and Mayor Dave Coulter respectively, Saturday morning before a crowd of onlookers outside City Hall.

The opportunity to toss the pies was the raffle prize that residents who donated $20 or more toward Clean the Ferndale Up hoped to win.

How did it feel to take a pie in the face on a chilly Saturday morning?

"Refreshing," Nowaczok said. "I did accidentally inhale pie."
