Chris and Nan are Laughing, Learning Together in Ferndale

In honor of Valentine's Day, we're taking a look at some of Ferndale's cutest couples.

Ferndale has its fair share of lovebirds, so we decided to check in with a few of them before Valentine's Day and ask them to share relationship and date night secrets.

Today, we hear from Ferndale residents Nancy Kerr-Mueller and Chris Mueller. Nan Kerr-Mueller is a member of the Ferndale school board.

Chris and I have been together since January of 1998.  He found out I was hiring people training to be teachers for an after school program that focused on science and introduced himself to me.

Hands down, for us it is humor.  We also love to learn together, debating and discussing is a big part of our quality time.

What famous couple would you compare yourselves to?

Well, I say Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt and Chris says Fred and Wilma Flinstone

Why did you settle in Ferndale, and how long have you lived here?

We moved back to Michigan after living in Chicago.  We wanted to be closer to my family but still have some of the vibrant city experience we had grown to love. We did a lot of research on walkability/politics/ and the general feeling in different towns.  Ferndale is it for us.

What’s your favorite romantic night out in Ferndale and why?

Oh wow... well, we love Anitas kitchen for dinner. We love the Emory for later night drinks and snacks. We like the Stop Spot for Karaoke and Go Comedy for their cheap Fresh Sauce shows.  However, I think our favorite nights out in Ferndale are the ones that bring a lot of Ferndalians together. The CFF Good Neighbor Award night is so much fun - The Prom at the Library was a blast, Ferndale Pride, etc. There is always something good to go to here.  We never have to leave.
