OCCMHA Accepting Nominees for 2014 Achievement Awards

Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority (OCCMHA) is currently accepting nominations for its 2014 Achievement Awards.

Persons eligible for nomination are individuals receiving services from the public mental health system in Oakland County: adults with mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbances and/or their family, adults and children with developmental disabilities.

Nomination forms are available at

OCCMHA Achievement Award Categories

Stigma Buster Award

This individual has used creative and innovative ways to educate others (family members, elected officials, communities, general public, school personnel, children, etc) and reduce stigma regarding mental illness and/or developmental disabilities. 

“Dan Moran” Award for Inclusion and Advocacy

This individual actively promotes the rights of individuals, encourages self-advocacy, raises awareness about mental illness or developmental disabilities; breaks down boundaries, creates new relationships that end stigma; and serves as a role model to others.

Helping Hands Award

This individual gives back to their community through volunteer work, helping others, giving of themselves selflessly to make their community a better place. 

“My Life” Award

This individual has embraced and moved forward through the person centered planning process or family centered planning process. This individual has created goals and pursued dreams that have utilized natural and community resources and supports.

Director’s Award

This individual inspires others to strive to be their best, helps and advocates for others, and helps make their community a better place.  This extraordinary individual has overcome the challenges of living with a mental illness or developmental disability and has chosen to use their experience to contribute to others and the community. This individual embodies the characteristic of all the other Consumer Recognition Awards.
