Varner Hall

String, woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists, ages 7-18, who are interested in advancing their musical skills, are invited to audition for membership in Oakland Youth Orchestras (OYO).
 
OYO is a premier Southeast Michigan Youth Orchestra that serves 350 students in grades two through twelve from 35 communities and seven counties. Merit and financial-need scholarships are available.
 
Audition sign-up for 2024-2025, OYO’s 50th season, is going on now and extends through May 11, 2024. For details about the orchestras and audition schedule visit: <a href="https://oyomi.org/join-oyo/auditions/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">oyomi.org/join-oyo/auditions/</a>.
Auditions will be held in person at Oakland University Varner Hall. All prospective members must audition for placement into one of OYO’s four orchestras.

Join OYO and celebrate 50 years of educating and enriching youth through music. For this special anniversary, OYO commissioned world renowned composer, Catherine McMichael, to write a symphony. The orchestras of OYO will premiere this piece in the upcoming 2024-2025 season. 
McMichael is a Michigan resident whose music reaches across six continents, innumerable students, and professional artists. Five publishers distribute her various pieces, from flute ensembles, piano, string chamber music, symphonic, band, and concert-length choral works.

Monday, May 27th 2024 will be the 13th year of the Michigan Fallen Foot Float parade. Our poster tribute will again honor all those who fought or gave their lives in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, as well the Syrian ISIS conflict, since 2001 with ties to Michigan. (Other wars of Michigan fallen heroes included). Please RSVP to ferndalefootfloat@gmail.com 
 Event Information We will walk with posters, banners and flags as the Michigan Fallen Heroes Foot Float in the Annual Ferndale Memorial Day Parade to honor and remember Michigan fallen heroes. Please arrive between 9:00-9:15am to park, check in and pick a poster at the corner of W. Maplehurst and Livernois. See attached flyer for more details
Parade Route for 2024&nbsp;The parade route is different again from previous years because of Woodward construction. This year we will start at Livernois to Oakridge, to Pinecrest to 9 Mile to Livernois to Memorial Ceremony service, (About a 25 minute walk). Nothing compared to the price they paid.
Poster Requests If there is someone's poster that you want to carry in the foot float, please email before May 20th and we will hold it for you at the sign in table.
Donations and More Information This year, we will once again include&nbsp;banners as needed. Your donations help cover these costs, parade fee, posters and pipers. As part of the Michigan Fallen Heroes Foot float, we hope you will do all you can to help us. Including posting our flyer at your work, in your publications, on websites or publicly announcing our upcoming tribute and need for volunteer walkers of all ages.&nbsp;
