 ; Event\nJune 9th at Lake St. Clair Metropark\nIf you are looking for a 
 unique and cool way to kick off the warm-weather season\, consider parti
 cipating in Macomb County&rsquo\;s &nbsp\;Sprint and Splash event.&nbsp\
 ; This first-ever event is coming to the Lake St. Clair Metropark in Har
 rison Township on Saturday\, June 9\, 2012.\nThe purpose of Sprint and S
 plash is to promote and celebrate Lake St. Clair\, kicking off a weekend
  of events that will &ldquo\;Celebrate the Lake\,&rdquo\; including the 
 Department of Natural Resources Free Fishing Weekend\, National Marina D
 ay\, and River Day.&nbsp\;\nThere are three options for participation in
  this event:\n\n5K Fun Run/Walk\nDuathlon: 5K Run and 5K Kayak\nSanction
 ed Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Competition\n\nEveryone who participates in 
 this event will be supporting organizations that are working to improve 
 the regional economy by increasing tourism to Lake St. Clair and its coa
 stal communities while also striving to protect and restore Lake St. Cla
 ir\, the Clinton River and the surrounding natural areas.\nThe primary b
 enefactor will be the Lake St. Clair Tourism Initiative\, a non-profit a
 ssociation that has a goal of educating and connecting new and existing 
 visitors about the many experiences offered by Lake St. Clair and the su
 rrounding businesses and communities. &nbsp\;For more information on the

  other non-profit organizations will also benefit from this event - The 
 Clinton River Watershed Council and Six Rivers Regional Land Conservancy
 . &nbsp\;Both organizations focus on conserving\, sustaining\, and prote
 cting the region&rsquo\;s natural resources.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;Presenting Sp
 onsor for the event is Henry Ford Health Systems.\nSprint and Splash beg
 ins at 8 a.m. on Saturday\, June 9 at Lake St. Clair Metropark.&nbsp\; P
 articipants of all ages and athletic abilities are encouraged to partici
 pate\, especially families. Discounts at registration are offered for al
 l police\, fire and active and reserved military personnel. The deadline
  for race registration is June 6th for the Duathlon event\, and particip
 ants in the Fun Run can register on the day of the race.&nbsp\;\nIf you
