Civil Air Patrol Open House
How many teenagers do you know who have flown an airplane and been involved in real missing persons searches? Civil Air Patrol cadets have done this, and much more. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force with over 61,000 members across the nation. CAP is not a millitary recruiting branch, it is an all volunteer, non-profit organization with cadets ranging in ages from 12 to 21 years old. CAP is charted with three missions: Emergency Services, which includes Search and Rescue (both air and ground) and local disaster relief; Aerospace Education for both its members and the general public; and a Cadet Program to help all members develop strong teamwork and leadership skills.
The South Oakland Cadet Squadron meets at the U.S Army Reserve center, located at 26402 W 11 Mile Rd, Southfield MI. They will be hosting an open house June 19th from 7-9pm for anyone interested in learning more about this outstanding organization. The meeting will include light refreshments and the chance to speak with current cadets and adult members about all the opportunities CAP has to offer. Please spread the word.
