It's Thanksgiving Eve - often touted as the biggest bar night of the year - and there's plenty to do in Ferndale.

Here's a look at some of the events going on around town and information to help you celebrate safely.

• Dino's Lounge is hosting "The Night Before Thanksgiving Bash" with karaoke from 6-9 p.m. (and between band sets) and live entertainment starting at 9:30 p.m. No cover. Happy hour specials from 2-7 p.m.
• At the Magic Bag, you can hear live music from Almost Free, Class Three Overbite and Amy Gore & Her Valentines. $8; Doors at 8 p.m.
• The New Way Bar will host a Thanksgiving Bash with live entertainment from local bands CHAW, Eleanora, Bastion, Blind Season, Hard Drive, Rival and more. $5; First act at 7 p.m.
• Rosie O'Grady's will feature two DJs, two stages and a dance battle on Wednesday night. Starting at 9 p.m.; No cover.
• John D Bistro will host a night before Thanksgiving event with the Ben Sharkey Quartet starting at 10 p.m. Call 248.398.4070 after 4 p.m. for reservations.
• The Detroit Bus Company is offering a "Welcome Home Bar Crawl" Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., running an all-you-can-ride loop around Ferndale, Royal Oak and Berkley. Drink specials offered at several bars for riders. An All-You-Can-Ride Pass costs $10. Find more information here.

Police: Don't drink and drive

Make plans ahead of time for a safe ride home, said Ferndale Police Sgt. Patrick Jones.

"It's very important not to drink and drive. Buzzed driving is drunk driving," he said. "Have a designated driver and make plans ahead of time. Have the bar call you a cab, which they will do."

Jones said Ferndale Police have been "cracking down on drunk driving" and that will continue.

"Don't drive if you've been drinking," he said. "Plan ahead."
