Woodward Imperial Taco Bar to Open Wednesday
Ferndale's new California-style taco bar will be open 11 a.m.-2 a.m. daily with a liquor license.
Ready to try some California-style tacos? You'll find them here in Ferndale starting next week at Woodward Imperial, which will have its soft opening Wednesday.
The new California-style taco bar will be open 11 a.m.-2 a.m. every day starting May 23; a grand opening is in the works for a week or so after that.
Managing partner Jeff King, who previously lived in California, says Woodward Imperial will feature "L.A. street-style tacos," which are open-faced soft tacos, including chicken, pork, steak and vegetarian options.
"The food portion of our business is extremely important to us," he said.
The space at 22828 Woodward Ave., former home of the now-closed Post Bar, has undergone extensive renovations, including garage-style doors that will allow an indoor/outdoor feel in the warmer months and an open, minimalist, crisp wood look.
In January, Ferndale City Council unanimously approved a liquor license for the business, with Mayor Dave Coulter calling the build-out "very impressive."
King has said the restaurant will be unlike anything else in the area and offer a unique dining experience. He said several cities were considered for the establishment but Ferndale was the top choice.
"We love the community, we love the surrounding communities," he said.
