Whiz Kids: Ferndale Brothers Strive for Excellence
Read about Ferndale Patch's featured students of the week and nominate someone you think we should highlight next week.
Terrell Lowery and Brandin Lowery
Accomplishments: Both students are on the Honor Roll and continually get all "A"s and "B"s. They have received numerous awards and are "all around great kids," says their mother Tamara Lowery, who nominated them for recognition.
Terrell was one of only two students chosen at his school to be part of the 21st Century Leaders. He loves math and enjoys the challenge it provides.
Brandin tutors his peers, helps his teachers, and "continues to strive to be the best." He loves reading and writing because it allows him to express himself.
Key to awesomeness: Despite the tragic loss of their father a year and a half ago, Terrell and Brandin have worked hard to overcome and have excelled in school.
"What makes them both awesome is they have decided not to let what happened to their dad lead their life," Tamara Lowery wrote. "They have chosen to rise above that and be a leader and make him proud."
Lowery writes: "They believe through hard work anything is possible and you should not let anything stop you. I am so proud of Terrell and Brandin- they continue to inspire me and everyone around them to never give up."
