The New Year's Eve weekend is a time to celebrate with family and friends. As such, many offices, restaurants and libraries will be closed or have special hours in the days leading up to and following the holiday Saturday and the first day of 2012 Sunday.

Here's a quick look at what will be open and closed in Ferndale. Please leave a comment if you have something to add!

• City Hall offices will be closed Friday through Monday.
• The Ferndale Public Library will be closed Saturday through Monday.
• The United States Postal Service Post Office will be closed Monday.
• Trash service will continue as regularly scheduled.

New Year's Eve All-Star Showdown

• Where: Go Comedy! Improv Theater
• When: 8 p.m. Saturday
• Cost: $25 for the 8 p.m. performance, $35 for the 10 p.m. performance and $50 for both performances.
• Why go: Go Comedy! Improv Theater will host two special performances of the Go Comedy! All Star Showdown on New Year’s Eve. An 8 p.m. performance that will feature hors d'oeuvres and special prizes, and a 10 p.m. performance that also will feature hors d’oeuvres, special prizes and a champagne toast at midnight followed by a New Year’s Eve after party.

New Year's Eve at Torino Espresso & Bar

• Where: Torino Espresso & Bar,
• Hours: 8:30 p.m to 4 a.m.
• Why go: Torino is ringing in the New Year with a prosecco toast at midnight, plus: premium bar access from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., free hors d’oeuvres from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. and full menu available until 1 a.m.
• Cost: $30, or two for $50.

Dino's New Year's Eve Bash

• Where: Dino's Lounge
• When: Party starts at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
• Why go: Come to Dino's for a special dinner menu and dance music with Bocco (4 piece electric). Also, check out the Sunday Resort Style Brunch 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 1 for bottomless bloody marys and mimosas. Check out menu here.

New Year's Sparkle Set

• When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday
• Where: Painting with a Twist
• Cost: $45
• What to expect: Bring your date and paint one half of New Year's Sparkle. Your date paints the other half in this double canvas set. Or, come by yourself and you choose the side you would like to paint.
