James Guarino, of Madison Heights, dives right in Tuesday night at Rosie O'Grady's paczki eating contest.

It was a doozey this week in Ferndale.

Ferndale Middle School and High School students had a dress rehearsal for Oklahoma! and it was looking pretty good. It opens Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for adults $6; seniors and students $4; and children under 12 $3.

Then, on Fat Tuesday, the Ferndale Community Foundation held it's annual Taste of Ferndale that brought the community together and showcased some of the great eats the city has to offer. More importantly, said Dan Martin, president of the foundation, people came out to see the city and the sense of community that exists here.

And, finally, also on Fat Tuesday, Rosie O'Grady's had a paczki-eating contest and it was gross! Just kidding, it was awesome and a lot of paczki were consumed. Contestants are going to have to do a lot of sit-ups to work off those deep fried, filling-filled, sweet balls of dough.
