Tonight: Ferndale Schools 'Voice of the Eagles' Recognition Ceremony

Ceremony will include speeches from former FHS principal Herb Ivory, Superintendent Gary Meier and Athletic Director/Assistant Principal Shaun Butler.

 

Ferndale High School will host a dedication and unveiling of "The Joe Mahan Scoring Table” on Friday during the boys varsity basketball game, which starts at 7:15 p.m.

The ceremony, which will take place during halftime, will include speeches from past FHS principal Herb Ivory, Ferndale Schools Superintendent Gary Meier and FHS Athletic Director/Assistant Principal Shaun Butler.

Mahan, known locally as the "Voice of the Eagles," has been the public address announcer for Ferndale athletic events since 1947.

Joe Mahan died Monday, March 18, 2013. Visitation at Wessels and Wilk Funeral Home in Pleasant Ridge, MI on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The service will be at 11:00 a.m. the following day and he will be interred at White Chapel Cemetery shortly after the service.
