The Post Bar Turns into a Taco Bar

After sitting vacant for three months, the bar is undergoing a transformation into Woodward Imperial.

In March, the Post Bar closed. Since then, the space it occupied went unused, the chalkboards outside unwiped. Although the neon sign with the elephant still came on at night, a busy part of downtown had a dormant storefront.

Well, not anymore. Get ready for some tacos.

According to Ferndale's Downtown Development Director Cristina Sheppard-Decius, that space will become a taco bar.

She describes it as a "simpler taco and not stuff with all kinds of things."

The name of it is Woodward Imperial. "It was approved through appearance review for renovation," she said Thursday.

There were be a lot of renovation, she said. "It's at least six months away," she said.

The front of the building would have a roll-up glass front, like a garage door, that will open the space up to the outside.

"I think what they are doing and adding are going to make a world of different for that entire block," she said. "It's already a busy block with long-standing business, but this will work well with the building mix in the downtown area."
