Surveillance Tape Shows 7-Eleven Robbery
Tape shows a man with a gun in black clothing and a red hat knock the convenience store clerk to the ground and take the purse of a customer inside.
Surveillance tape from the 7-Eleven armed robbery at Pinecrest and West Nine Mile early Monday morning shows the gunman hit the clerk, knocking her to the ground and then stealing the purse of another woman inside.
The Ferndale Police Department released the tape. It was played from Ferndale Police Lt. Detective William Wilson's computer and recorded by Ferndale Patch.
The surveillance video shows three angles of the robbery. The first angle shows the suspect walk into the 7-Eleven and point the gun at the female clerk. The clerk then runs around the counter, out of the camera. The gunman follows her around the counter. They both come back into the screen after the assailant hits her with the pistol, knocking her to the ground. The gunman then goes after a customer in the store.
The next clip is above the counter. It shows the gunman pulling the gun out and directing it at the clerk.
The final angle pans the store and shows the gunman, after knocking out the clerk, going toward a woman in the store. He takes her purse and exits the 7-Eleven.
Wilson said the suspect didn't get into the register and only ended up taking the purse.
"We're relying greatly on citizen involvement with this case," Wilson said.
Wilson said the department doesn't have any leads. If anyone has any tips or leads on the Monday morning robbery of 7-Eleven, Wilson asks you call the Ferndale Police Department at 248-541-3650.
