The Rust Belt Market met its $20,000 Kickstarter campaign goal over the weekend several days ahead of its deadline.
The artisan market in Ferndale started the campaign to fund a new 4,000-square-foot space inside the market to be used for weekday events.
Rust Belt owners Chris and Tiffany Best announced the campaign on Feb. 20. A total of 346 people contributed to the campaign.
The Rust Belt posted the following message on its Facebook page on Saturday:
WE CROSSED THE FINISH LINE!! This is huge for us. This is a gate way. This is what was so necessary for our continued growth. I am fighting the urge to write a lengthy essay on the American dream and how it is still alive despite all the recent bleakness of the past 5 years. I will spare you the sappy dramatics and just say thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. We will not disappoint. This award you have given us will not be taken lightly. You will be impressed!
