Retired Ferndale Police Officer Robert Beveridge died Saturday at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was 81 years old.

Beveridge was born Sept. 12, 1930, and was a longtime Ferndale resident. He served as a police officer for more than 32 years with the Ferndale Police Department. He retired Oct. 6, 1986, according to the department.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Fraternal Order of Police 130 hall, 2233 Burdette St., in Ferndale.

“We’ll all miss him,” Ferndale Chief of Police Timothy Collins said at Monday night’s City Council meeting.
