A student at Ferndale's Digital Learning Center was charged Friday with felony assault after a gang-related fight at the school, according to the Daily Tribune.
The 17-year-old student reportedly attacked another student who is a member of a rival gang at about 1 p.m. Thursday near the entrance doors to the school gymnasium, the newspaper reports.
The student, who was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and is jailed on a $25,000 bond, may have been armed with a knife or half of a pair of scissors at the time of the assault, according to the article.
The alternative high school, which opened this year, is located at 427 Allen.
