Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Pick Patch's Treat Dreams Ice Cream Flavor Contest

What should the Ferndale Patch flavor be? Tell us your ideas and you could win two free pints of the winning combo.

What flavor of ice cream would you choose for Ferndale Patch?

Patch has partnered with Treat Dreams to host a flavor contest. Starting today, Nov. 14, you have two weeks to tell us what you think the Patch flavor should be.

Get as creative as you like with the ingredients! This is Treat Dreams, after all - home to flavors like Hot Jalapeno and Sunday Breakfast (yes, with bacon!).

Share your ideas by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 28. We'll send them all over to Treat Dreams owner Scott Maloney who will narrow it down to the top three, and then we'll bring it back to you for a vote. Voting will last one week on Ferndale.patch.com. If there's a tie, the winner will be determined by a random drawing.

Whoever comes up with the winning combo wins two free pints of the new flavor!

You'll also be able to buy the Patch flavor at Treat Dreams, where it will be featured in the store for one week.

So what's it gonna be, Ferndale? Submit your ideas in the comments section below.

All contests have rules, so here's ours:

Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia who are 18 and older. To enter, submit your flavor idea in the comments section below. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Nov. 28. You may enter as many times as you want. One winner will be selected via votes in the comment section on Ferndale Patch.com. The winner will win two pints of the winning flavor of ice cream from Treat Dreams, valued at about $10 total. The winner must pick up their pints in person at the store within a week of notification, as the flavor will only be available for one week (7 days). Click Here for complete Official Rules.

It's impossible to keep up with the hundreds of flavors that they have offered, so I may have missed this one, but what about Twinkie flavor in honor of Hostess closing? Or Garden Fresh salsa flavor, to make it uniquely Ferndale.

The Ferndale Patch ice cream flavor should be fruits that grow in a "patch"....Strawberry/Blackberry/ Blueberry/Raspberry with a hint of basil in a wonderful creamy bourbon vanilla ice cream.

Based off your logo, it should be a "grass roots" icecream. How about some healthy green wheat grass icecream? Perhaps make it vegan/sorbet or at least all natural. I'm thinking of some pineapple and lime to keep it green and fruity. Maybe even spinach to enhance the natural green color? I'll let the experts at Treat Dreams figure out the details but wheatgrass is definitely the way to go ;-)

My partner suggests we lace it with a little vodka (VALENTINE of course) and rename it Ferndale Normal.

Vegan beet-goat cheese!

Or a Patch-themed wheatgrass. Haven't we all dreamed of wheatgrass in ice cream form?

How about a sort of "Patch"-work quilt...3 different flavors of ice cream (Neapolitan style) with different ribbon flavors running through each. Vanilla with a bourbon ribbon, Strawberry with a cheesecake ribbon, Chocolate with a marshmallow ribbon. Too much?

A Patchigan mashup:
Avocado, Lemon grass, and Michigan Cherries (sweet or tart depending on the base ice cream mix).
+Avocado for the natural fats to provide smooth texture while also bringing the Patch-theme in with the green color.
+Lemon grass chopped chopped finely (food processor) to provide a bright citrusy flavor and some further green color bits.
+Cherries for the Michigan twist -- Treat dreams seems to try and incorporate as many local and state flavors as they can into their products, so I thought cherries would be a good addition to compliment the lemon grass and avocado. And before you freak out about avocado ice cream, Alton Brown made it and it's apparently spectacular: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/avocado-ice-cream-recipe/index.html
