Several local families turned out at the Ferndale Public Library on Wednesday evening for "Youth Day," one of the many events included in city's fourth annual Green Week.

The 20 or so children in attendance heard stories about nature, sang songs about recycling and decorated paper bags to use to collect trash. Treat Dreams provided ice cream.

The weeklong "earth celebration" is a product of the Ferndale Environmental Sustainability Commission's partnership with the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority, the local business community and other area organizations. Read more about Green Week here.
