Huntington Woods Bank Robbery Suspect Has Long Criminal History

The 47-year-old Detroit resident is being held on a parole violation from a previous armed robbery conviction and will be arraigned on a two-count felony warrant for bank robbery and fleeing and eluding, a Public Safety official says.

The man suspected of robbing a Chase Bank in Huntington Woods on Monday has a long criminal history, a Public Safety official said Tuesday.

The 47-year-old Detroit resident, who was shot in Pleasant Ridge after fleeing the robbery scene, was in critical condition Tuesday at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak but is expected to recover, Huntington Woods Public Safety Lt. Ron Livingston said.

The man is being held on a parole violation stemming from a previous armed robbery conviction, Livingston said.

The suspect will be arraigned on a two-count felony warrant for bank robbery and fleeing and eluding when his condition improves, Livingston said.

He could not disclose the man's name but said the suspect has a long criminal history.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office will handle the investigation of the Huntington Woods Public Safety's Department's role in the shooting, which is standard practice for transparency's sake, Livingston said.

It was covered by local FOX, WDIV, and WXYZ online and on tv. The story was eclipsed by the West Bloomfield shooting of the policeman, which was far more tragic.
