The 12th annual Ferndale Blues and Music Festival is coming to a close on Wednesday evening with a concert that aims to "bring the generations together."
At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, the Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School Jazz Bands will be performing in a special “Grand Finale” concert at the Gerry Kulick Community Center.
The two bands, under the direction of Tim Burke, were invited to play at the center by the Ferndale Seniors Group.
"We wanted music to bring the generations together,” said Jeannie Davis, president of the Ferndale Seniors. "Music is a common language that we all share."
There is no admission fee for the concert but attendees are encouraged to support Ferndale Youth Assistance and Michigan AIDS Coalition by making donations in the festival's blue piggy bank during the show.
Snacks will be sold at the event by the Ferndale Seniors Group. For more information, visit www.ferndalebluesfestival.org.
