Metro Detroit's First Baby in 2012 Has a Ferndale Mother

The first baby born in Metro Detroit in 2012 is Keveon James Butler whose mother is from Ferndale.

Keveon James Butler was the first metro Detroit baby born in 2012 and his mother hails from Ferndale.

Michelle Hargitt, 33, gave birth to the Keveon, a 7-pound, 3.4-ounce, bouncing baby boy at Detroit's Sinai-Grace Hospital soon after the clock hit midnight, at 12:02 a.m., according to the hospital's press secretary Tiffany Jones.

The mother is from Ferndale while the father, Norman Butler, is from Lansing. Keveon joins brothers and sisters Nijah, 11; Tajajah, 8; Evelyn, 4; and Norman, 2.
