Ferndale School Bond Projects Move Forward, Residents Sought for Oversight Committee
The district's technology department expects to begin purchasing equipment this month for its network upgrade project.
Also included is about $3.3 million allocated for technology upgrades, which will include replacing outdated equipment and improving network operations.
On April 23, Ferndale Schools director of technology Melissa Auchter reported to the Board of Education that her team is working to finalize plans for its network upgrade project and wireless network expansion project and expects to begin purchasing equipment this month.
The projects will continue over the next year in all buildings and will be complete once all of the Ferndale High School classroom renovations are complete.
Stephanie Hall, director of community relations for the district, said the department is excited to be moving forward with technology upgrades.
"The projects that are part of the bond were designed to make sure that our students had the level of facilities that they need to be successful," Hall said.
As planning for bond projects continues, residents are being sought to participate in a bond oversight committee that will begin meeting soon.
The Board of Education's Operations Committee is seeking interested community members who would like to serve on the Citizens Bond Oversight Subcommittee. Hall said the group will meet monthly to review bond projects starting this month prior to each Operations Committee meeting.
Those interested in being part of the subcommittee are asked to e-mail FerndaleCQS@gmail.com.
