Ferndale Public Library Announces Director Transition
Kate Pohjola departed the position of library director as of Aug. 23.
The Ferndale Public Library's Board of Trustees has announced the departure of library director Kate Pohjola, effective Aug. 23.
"Everyone who met Kate knows she was an enthusiastic advocate of the library. We wish her well as she moves on to other challenges and experiences," Board President Jim O'Donnell said in a press release.
Pohjola began work as the Ferndale library's director on Aug. 1, 2011. Previously, she was director for Lapeer District Library.
Ed Burns, the library's Head of Adult Services, will serve as acting director until a permanent director is hired and begins work.
Recruiting and hiring a new permanent director will be done "effectively and expeditiously," and will likely be completed in several weeks, the press release states.
The library board will meet this week to make decisions on the director search process.

Isn't this the 3rd director for the library in a short period of time?
Hasn't one Board member already stepped down?
Hasn't the Board President pledged to step down if they win a seat on the school board?
What's going on at the Ferndale library?
Why is it so hard to run?
Is it internal
Management? The library board?
I'd like to see some follow up journalism!

I too would like to know why Kate left. Kate was a great person to work with and I am wondering why there is no clear information regarding why she left. Did she quit? Was she fired ? The tax payers want to know.
