Update: $1 Million Bond Set for Ferndale Arson Suspect
Police and fire officials responded to two vehicles on fire and a front porch burning on the 1600 Block of University early Friday morning.
Update: Branden Lee Wilcox, 26, of Hamtramck, was arraigned in 43rd District Court on July 13.
He is charged with Arson of Dwelling House - a 20-year felony - and two counts of Arson of Personal Property (vehicles), five-year felonies, according to Ferndale Police.
Magistrate James Patterson set bond for Wilcox at $1 million cash/surety.
July 13: Police arrested a 26-year-old man on Friday morning in relation to a suspected arson on University Street in Ferndale.
Ferndale Police and the Fire Department responded to a fire on the 1600 block of University around 2 a.m. Friday.
Officers arrived to find two vehicles on fire and the front porch of a house burning. It is believed the fire is the result of a family dispute, according to a news release from Ferndale Police Lt. William Wilson.
Ferndale officers arrested a 26-year-old man from Hamtramck in relation to the suspected arson, according to police.
Ferndale police and fire departments and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department Arson Squad are currently investigating the case.
