2 Teens Arrested After Attempted Carjacking in Ferndale Near Taft

The incident took place outside Midway Market, the Daily Tribune reported.

Two teenagers were arrested after an attempted carjacking around 1:45 p.m. Thursday outside Midway Market, 990 W. Eight Mile Rd., in Ferndale, according to a Daily Tribune report.

Police said the two teens from Detroit were located and arrested shortly after the incident and may be charged later today at Ferndale 43rd District Court.

One of the teens is enrolled in alternative high school at Taft Education Center in Ferndale but had attended just once in the past 30 days, the Daily Tribune reported.

Police did not return calls for comment Friday afternoon.

IT"S ALL ABOUT SAVING THEIR JOBS! They don't care what happens to the City or it's decline; all they care about is getting in and getting out with a pay check.. Government paid or other wise! Who has run this state for the past decade or more, Dem's! Who rubs the school systems, DEM's! Who runs the Unions, DEM's...
Your city is being run into the ground with Social Engineering. Hear that, that is the sound of your property value going into the toilet?

This is exactly why we are moving out of the Ferndale arean and the State of Michigan for that matterm come the end of April. Things are never going to change around here as long as we have a Republican for a Governor and a crooked County Executive who makes up the rules as they seem fit to there liking and screw the citizens who stand in their way!

Ferndale traditionally had a relatively large number of employees, and Covey said it was clear that couldn’t go on, given the steady decline of the domestic auto industry, periodic recessions and other factors that struck southeastern Michigan hard. For example, he noted that the city had always had a sizable police force, but the fact was that it was a “Cadillac” department when Ferndale was only going to be able to afford a “Chevy” force. Reductions were sometimes controversial, but necessary.

“We knew we had to start the process of cutting and trimming the city budget, because 10 years ago we saw what was coming,” he said. “The recession just didn’t pop up. The council members took early action and it got Ferndale in better shape.”

While I disagree with many positions that Sean House takes, I applaud his being involved. He does represent people in the city, albeit conservatives and Republicans are in the minority. Questions about using paid consultants was very relevant, our city has spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on them over the past few years when some staff could have done the job.

All while destryoying a perfectly good library, knowing we had a problem, just to build a 6 Million Dollar edifice complex with grass growing on the roof? Hundred of Thousands of Dollars being wasted, while our citizens Police force is cut, putting the community at risk! As the DOLLAR STORE FAMILY what they think?

The following are the the facts about the library. Ferndale voters approved the library's renovation and expansion in 2007, adding one mill to their property taxes for the express purpose of renovating the library and improving library services. The funds are completely separate and did not affect the police force in any way (other than provide better materials for officers to borrow in their free time). The bulding cost was approximately $4.5 million, not $6 million. The green roof (which is sedum, not grass) saves money by keeping the building cooler in the summer, helps keep stormwater out of an overtaxed storm sewer system, and provides other benefits, while requiring little to no special maintenance.

Dear Mr. O'Donnell,
Well aware of your information and how it was processed. Yet while the push was on to build this edefice complex; City Council and the Mayor were well of our financial fiasco as former Mayor Covey admitted with his own words, and the issue of being conservative with tax payers money never was brought up as a issue by any of the Council or Mayor to my knowledge? The fact is, the old library was just fine; and we could have made due especially heading into a aproximate $3.1 Million Dollar defecit as was so pointed out by officials. So it was un wise in my opinion to proceed with a un informed choice/vote in my oppinion!

Like Covey said: "“The recession just didn’t pop up. The council members took early action and it got Ferndale in better shape.”
And as far as the grass; savings? No savings, just a added expense twisted in what ever "selective perception" you want! Oh look, there is a sale on shoes? Oh, but wait, I already have shoes! LOL

All roads lead to inflation.
Irrational fears of deflation have wrought irrational monetary and economic policies. And that has us headed toward something truly scary.

It's all about living below your means; and not using the public money like a play toy like a typical politician would do...

We need FERNDALE POLICE; we did not need the library. Especially when they were so plainly aware of comming fiscal hardships and resulting raised taxes!

It's called real leadership; which we are in desperate need off! It is all the same old sensless orgy! Ferndale, a small town of 20K; too think a whole nation is thinking this way. We cannot afford it!

The problem with the economy can be summed up with a single word... Obamanomics.
You cannot Tax, SPEND, Borrow and Debase your way to prosperity no matter what '57 States' and his donkey minions tell you. If you think you can try it at a personal level with your own family budget. See if you are not bankrupt within a year!
End Keynesian economic nonsense and fire another 2000+ democrats this November!

OH, Welcome to Ferndale/AKA "The New Palmer Park District for Mayor Covey and Friends" Welcome to Hope and Change/ Say Good Bye to Property Values/Time to move again, just like Terry Parris Jr, Bob Bruner and others..
