Ferndale City Council meeting
Ferndale City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Ferndale City Hall. Included on the agenda is a public hearing for a Micro Brewer and Small Wine Maker License for Om Cafe (tabled from the Jan. 14 meeting). View the full agenda here.
Blues Fest continues
The 12th annual Ferndale Blues and Music Festival continues all this week with a wide range of live music events. The annual festival raises money for Ferndale Youth Assistance and the Michigan AIDS Coalition. Find the full schedule and more details here.
Nominations due for Teacher of the Year
Nominations are still being accepted for the Ferndale Public Schools 2012-13 Teacher and Employee of the Year Awards. Applications are due by Wednesday, Jan. 30. You can download the application here. Find more details about the awards here.
Register for Sweetheart Date Night
Ferndale Recreation and Oak Park Recreation are partnering together for this year's Sweetheart Date Night. The dance will be held at the Oak Park Community Center and is open to girls up to age 15. Girls can bring their favorite date including dads, uncles, older brothers or even family friends. Register by Thursday, Jan. 31 and be entered in a drawing to win a free updo or manicure from DYE Salon. A pre-dance dinner special is offered at The Emory. Find full details here.
Clothing swap at Loving Touch
A ladies-only, 21+ clothing swap event will be held at The Loving Touch from 6-9 p.m. Saturday as a fundraiser for the John F. Kennedy School PTA. Cover charge is $20 and guests must bring at least five fashionable clothing items to enter the swap. Free spa services will be offered including nail polish changes and chair massages.
