DPW Collecting the Remaining Curbside Leaves for 2 Weeks

The deadline to put your leaves to the curb was Nov. 28. DPW will work for the next two weeks to get the rest of the leaves sucked up.

The deadline to rake your leaves to the curb was Nov. 28. So, you can't do that anymore. However, many residents are still waiting for their leaves to be picked up.

Ferndale's Department of Public Works Director Byron Photiades said that three-quarters of the city still have isolated piles of leaves at the curbs to be gathered. He said that northwest Ferndale is completed and that the three other quadrants of the city will be completed in the next two weeks.

"We know which parts of the city still need to be done," he said. "Any leaves that need to go out after the expiration date should be gathered and put into craft bags."

He said leaves that are raked to the curb after Nov. 28 in areas that have already been completed would get an issue of notice to clean up the leaves from the curb. If the resident doesn't do so, DPW will pick up the leaves and bill the resident.

The good news is you don't have to sort the leaves by color.
