Who let the dogs in?

That question might have been on the minds of customers at Level One Bank in Ferndale on Friday as the employees there got the chance to bring their dogs to work as part of an effort to raise funds for animal welfare.

The Ferndale branch was one of several Level One Bank locations to host “Dog Days of Summer,” encouraging donations to the Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan.

The event was put on by the Farmington Hills-based bank for the second year in a row. Employees were encouraged to bring their dogs to work for the day and could also donate $5 to AWS to wear jeans.

The goal of AWS is to secure homes for as many adoptable animals as possible, while educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering in an effort to control the pet population.
 
“The benefit of having canines in the workplace has been proven by multiple studies nationwide, including improving morale and decreasing stress,” said Susan Edwards, president/treasurer of AWS. “We look forward to more organizations opening their doors to our four-legged friends as Level One Bank has.”
