The recommended budget includes a tax rate increase from 3 to 3.75 mills for 2012-13 and to 4.85 mills for 2013-14.

Ferndale City Council members are expected to vote on the proposed fiscal year 2012-13 and 2013-14 budget at their 7:30 p.m. meeting tonight at City Hall.

The recommended budget, which council began reviewing April 9, includes a millage increase from 3 to 3.75 mills for 2012-13 and to 4.85 mills for 2013-14.

Also up for review on the agenda are a variety of special event permits and an ordinance on street vending in the downtown district. On April 23, council debated for more than one hour on a discussion of proposed restrictions to Ferndale’s street and mobile vendors.

Ultimately, Mayor David Coulter proposed that he and Councilman Dan Martin serve as a liaison committee of the council to work with the Downtown Development Authority and city administration for two weeks and come back with a recommendation at tonight's meeting.

Tax increases so we can spend more and more! Just like many people stated before the Headly Overide vote. We lhave less services, less employees, and still our taxes keep going up. Not surprised.
