Camp Casey Beer Fest to Take Over Royal Oak Farmers Market June 23
Raise your glass while raising funds for Camp Casey at the first-ever Camp Casey Summer Beer Fest, to be held at the Royal Oak Farmers Market on June 23.
The first-time event gathers more than 70 local, regional, national and international brews for patrons to sample in a festive atmosphere. The craft beer industry has enjoyed a boom in recent years in Michigan, with events such as Beer Fest acting as a showcase in which beer aficionados can sample dozens of beers – some they may never have tried before – in one place.
The layout and atmosphere of the Royal Oak Farmers Market are also a great complement to a gathering of this theme. The event is made possible by the generous sponsorships of Carhartt, Garden Fresh Gourmet, Real Detroit Weekly, Suburban Buick GMC and Westborn Market.
Tickets are $40 and available at www.camp-casey.org or Westborn Market (27659 Woodward Avenue) in Berkley. The event is open to people ages 21 and over (proper ID required). 100 percent of ticket sales benefit Camp Casey, a horseback riding program for kids with cancer in Michigan.
“We were the charity recipient of the winter beer fest, held at the Royal Oak Music Theater, this past January and couldn’t believe what a huge success it was,” said Molly Reeser, executive director of Camp Casey.
“When we were given the opportunity to partner in a larger way for Summer Beer Fest, we jumped at the chance! We know this is going to become a can’t-miss staple on people’s summer schedule.”
